About the Artist

While she enjoys working in many different media, Ann M. Lorenc is an American artist specialising in ink, particularly in the use of creating pieces based on Insular art (also known as Celtic design). Ann became interested in Insular art while still in primary school as a way to connect with her Scottish ancestry. She studied any books and reference materials she could find in order to teach herself techniques to create art in the Insular style. While completing her Bachelors of Art in Art at Georgian Court University, she discovered the medium of ink which quickly became her favourite way to express her Insular art-styled designs. Ann later completed her Masters in Celtic Studies  from the University of Glasgow in Scotland where she had the opportunity to view Insular art on various monuments throughout Scotland.

Due to her love of tradition, Ann’s original artwork is all created by hand. She hopes that her art will add a touch of beauty, happiness, and wonder into the world.
